Pirate Life in Port Adelaide
Pirate Life moved into Port Adelaide, into a renovated old warehouse in March earlier this year. This new brewery in the old Dalgety woolstores houses 24 taps, a Pirate Life merchandise shop, a barbershop (Robbie’s Chop Shop) with space for a few games including the retro car driving games and a few pin ball machines.
Outside there is a food truck which I understand changes at least weekly if not daily. You can also order food inside like ham and cheese toasties. It is a great space with a good vibe, just off the high street on the corner of Baker Street and Barlow Street.
The team has done a great job of building such a popular brand. The new location and bigger building really allows more customers to enjoy the good vibes, good times and good beer! And if beer isn’t quite your thing, there are wines to buy at the bar.
I also love how they have thought about parents or guardians knowing they might also want a refreshment and chilled place to hang and relax during an afternoon. With the games on offer and the open space, it means it really is accommodating to most age groups. Plus with the wide smooth concrete floor, wide doors and lack of steps, it is both pram and wheelchair friendly.
You can still go to the original Hindmarsh brewery, bar and shop just off South Road. I wrote about my experience here last year on the Swanbourne Cellars blog.
