William Fèvre

William Fèvre is a well-known producer of wines in Chablis and I was fortunate to be invited to taste a range of their wines last month at Lamont’s.

William Fèvre’s family had lived in the area for more than 250 years and in 1959 he produced the first vintage with 7 hectares of vineyards. Now it is one of the biggest land owners in Chablis having gradually bought over the years. They have 51 hectares of vineyards ( 15.9 are classified as Premiers Crus and 15.2 as Grand Crus). Here there is the famous Kimmeridgian soil interspersed with marl and marly limestone which gives Chablis that minerality freshness. The vineyards and cellar door are in Chablis, well worth a visit if you are off to France!
